Nasarawa United Football Club gaffer, Bala Nkiyu, has said he is not distracted by the narrow 0-1 away defeat to Jigawa Golden Stars in the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday eleven clashes on Sunday afternoon.
Bala disclosed during the post-match interview with journalists at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
According to him, “That’s football for you.
“If anybody had told me I would lose the game against Jigawa Golden Stars today, I would not accept.
“As far as I am concerned, Jigawa Golden Stars are not up to other teams we have beaten in the past, but that is the game.”
The slow-speaking Technical Adviser, however, attributed the defeat to loss of concentration on the side of his wards.
“There was a human error and the opponents capitalized on that and scored.”
The former Coach of the Nigerian National U-17 female team, the Flamingoes, stated that his team will now shift focus on the midweek tie against visiting FC Ifeanyi Ubah, assuring of a positive outcome, in Lafia.
“I don’t think we will have any problem with our next home match, since our mission here was not achieved”, he concluded.
Faisal Ahmad scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute as Jigawa Golden Stars scooped the maximum points.
Nasarawa United remains unmoved on the league log, placing 7th with 17 points while Jigawa Golden Stars narrow the gap to within one point.
